Hi everyone! My name is Georgiana and I am the founder of Wear the World. It all started when I had a part time job whilst at college and saved enough to go travelling after I graduated. I found myself in Bali and stumbled across these gorgeous fabrics I had never seen before. With the little money and space I had in my bag, I was able to bring back a few pieces and couldn't wait to wear them to festivals. However, upon returning to the UK I realized that my pieces were really unique - not like the typical elephant Hareem pants you find people wearing from Thailand.
I couldn't quite understand why no one had these gorgeous Indonesian prints, so I quit my job as a Visual Merchandiser, packed my bags and headed out to Bali for a month to find a manufacturer. To cut a long story short, I was always conscious of manufacturing having a bad reputation in Asia and the Far East so I was set upon finding somewhere that would pay their staff fairly, and have good working conditions. I couldn't have asked for a better solution to this when I found a local family who would produce my garments.
Fast forward to today and I have three families all making our clothing. Not only do we supply jobs to the local community but I knew I wanted to give a percentage of my profits to charity. The plastic pollution in Bali is awful, the landscape and beaches are being ruined. Every time I go to Bali I do as many beach clean ups as possible and give 5% of my profits to Trash Hero.
Since covid started, I choose each month where my money will go depending on what is happening in the world and who I feel needs it the most. Charity's I've donated to in the past are the Covid 19 Response Fund, Black Lives Matter, Beruit Emergency Appeal and Crisis Kitchen Bali. I personally feel that no matter what happens in my life I will always have a roof over my head and a safe place to live. I am so blessed to live in the UK and I want to help the people in Bali as much as possible, I've made sure my families in Bali have consistent money coming in by giving them bonuses. I also asked if they knew anyone who is really struggling. They have a lot of friends in the tourist industry who have been hit hard since Covid so I have made a promise to help these people by supplying bags of food every month until they can get back to work.
I am so grateful for the success i've had so far that I have been able to develop new products that have grown from being just kimonos into now pyjamas dresses, skirts, trousers and more, all made from traditional Indonesian fabrics. Our silk blends are a sustainable alternative to pure silk as they are more durable and machine washable. Plus more affordable but still with a luxury feel. I want to have as low impact on the environment as possible so all orders are sent in biodegradable packaging and there is no wastage of fabric, everything gets turned into headbands, scrunchies and face masks. I read all of my reviews and promise I will continue to improve every item to the best it can possibly be.
Thank you so much for visiting my page, I'm so excited for what the future will bring for my small business and I hope you will come on the journey with me too!
